Last verified 9 October 2026 against official sources.

Quick answer
Since 20 November 2025, foreigners can fill in the arrival card online before travelling — on the National Immigration Administration website, the “NIA 12367” app, or the WeChat or Alipay mini-programs. Paper cards are still available on arrival.
Where to fill it in
- The National Immigration Administration arrival card website
- The “NIA 12367” app
- The NIA mini-programs inside WeChat or Alipay
If you didn't do it in advance, you can still complete it at the border: by scanning a QR code with your phone, at on-site kiosks, or on a paper card.
Who doesn't need an arrival card
- Holders of a Chinese Foreign Permanent Resident ID Card
- Non-Chinese holders of a Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents
- Travellers on a group visa or group visa-free entry
- Passengers in 24-hour direct transit who stay in the airport's transit area
- Cruise passengers arriving and leaving on the same ship
- Travellers using the automated e-channel, and foreign transport crew
What else happens at the border
- No health declaration — it was dropped in November 2023. Only travellers with symptoms such as fever, cough or diarrhoea must report to customs.
- The officer checks your passport and visa or visa-free eligibility. Not sure which applies? Run the visa-free checker.
- Using 240-hour transit? Have your onward ticket to a third country or region ready.
